Vice President, Geraldo Alckmin receives Brazil Potash Corp. at the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC)
Brazil Potash Corp. (“Brazil Potash” or the “Company”) (NYSE-American: GRO), a company developing and constructing the largest potash fertilizer project in Brazil, was received yesterday, February 14, by the vice president of the Republic of Brazil, Geraldo Alckmin, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services (MDIC). During the meeting in Brasília, the President of Potássio do Brasil, Adriano Espeschit, provided an update on the progress of the works for the implementation of the Potássio Autazes Project in the municipality of Autazes in the state of Amazonas.
Three members of Brazil Potash Corp.'s Advisory Board attended the meeting: former senator and former Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Mrs. Kátia Abreu; former Federal Attorney General, Mr. Luís Adams; and Mr. William Steers, who represented the founder of Brazil Potash and the chairman of the company's Advisory Board, Stan Bharti.
The advisor Kátia Abreu emphasized that “vice president Alckmin knows Brazil, its potential, and its challenges. He had the conviction of his support for potash production in Brazil. Ensuring our sovereignty is essential”, she highlighted.
The advisor Luís Adams commented that “the Autazes Potash Project presented to the vice president represents an important step in supporting Brazilian agribusiness, supporting local indigenous communities, promoting sustainable development in the Amazon region, and safeguarding Brazil's sovereignty and independence,” he said.
For William Steers, advisor to Brazil Potash, “the strength of agriculture has provided Brazilians with the lowest cost food on the planet and a secure source of fuel with carbon efficiency. We are pleased to be part of this success story with Brazil's largest source of potash chloride. We thank the Brazilian Government for its significant support, reaffirmed today by vice president Geraldo Alckmin”, he added.
Finally, the president of Potássio do Brasil, Adriano Espeschit, emphasized that supporting the Autazes Potash Project is vital for generating employment and income in Autazes and the region. “In this project's construction phase alone, the projection will create 2,600 direct jobs during the implementation activities. In the operational phase, in addition to 1,300 direct jobs, approximately 17,000 indirect jobs are expected to be created. The job creation in the region will be over 80% local labor,” he assured.
